1)Fixed local telephony : 4 operators

PT. Telkom as majority

Three other operators (PT. Indosat, PT. Ratelindo, PT. Batam Bintan Telekomunikasi)

2)Cellular : 4 major national operators, 4 other operators

One 3G license.

3)Long Distance :

Telkom is the major,

Indosat has just entered

4)International telephony :

Indosat and Satelindo.

Telephony Density :

1)Fixed line : 8.2 millions of lines ( > 3% penetration ) and 0.6 millions of Fixed Wireless Access

High teledensity in Jakarta area (13 %)

Med teledensity in other big cities ( 11 - 13 % )

Low teledensity in rural (0.2 %) :

43.022 villages (64.4 % of 66.778 villages) have no telephony

Telephony for 3.010 villages  has been provided in 2003

2)Cellular : ~ 19 juta subscribers in the end of 2003

Telkomsel : 9,6 millions à GSM

Indosat : 6 millions à GSM

Excelcomindo : 3 millions à GSM

Others : 200 thousands à CDMA

 

New license on 3G :

Through tight competitive bidding ,  Cyber – Access – Communication to carry out 3G services in 2006. Prior to implement the 3G services,  Cyber – Access – Communication is given spectrum in 1800MHz to operate 2G
